Local woman providing Gustav relief

Mississippians calling for relief in the wake of Hurricane Gustav might get their questions answered by a young woman from Palo Alto.

Sarah Anderson on Saturday headed to the state as part of the National Civilian Community Corps, a branch of the Americorps leadership program. She's part of a 12-person team working at Mississippi's 211 information line, taking calls from residents who want to know what recovery services are available.

Anderson is in the midst of a 10-month term with Americorps, a service program for people ages 18 to 24. She's working out of the civilian community corps' eastern region, based in Maryland.

For more information, visit http://www.americorps.gov/nccc or call 1-800-942-2677.
